Dzoubchuk is quite a difficult surname to pronounce even for a Ukrainian, not mentioning the foreigners. However, ever since her international début on unofficial World Club Championship in Tokyo in 1999 all spectators can distinctly notice this tall long-legged girl in the row of the gymnasts during opening ceremony. Then, in 1999 she became 2nd, straight after Zarina Gizikova from Russia, but even on the 2nd place of the podium she was higher than 1st-placed Gizikova...Elena's coach was Luibov Serebrianskaya, a well-known specialist in Ukraine and all-over gymnastics world. All her students had a very special feeling of music, their routines were full of inspiration and Elena was not an exception. Unfortunately, in 2001 Luibov had to leave the Crimean peninsula and move to Kyiv, to her daughter Ekaterina Serebrianskaya who had just given birth to her child. It was quite difficult for gymnasts of Luibov's "Gratsia" to overcome this. Her talented students Elena Tkachenko, Svetlana Rudalova moved to Belarus, Katerina Pisetsky went to Israel, most of the other gymnasts retired. But Elena stayed. She wanted to prove herself that she can be the first. Despite a controversial character Elena always tried to reach the aim which she put in front of herself. Her head coach became Oksana Rizatdinova and in 2001 Elena was fully training in Deriugins School, under a precise eye of the legendary Albina Deriugina. She was one of the leaders of Ukrainian Group in 2001 and she won silver in one of the finals. There were only a few months left before the World Championship and Irina Deriugina created a fully renovated individual program for her. A year before, in 2000 it seemed impossible for Dzoubchuk even to train in the National Team and now she had the chance to be in the team for World Championship! And what a chance!

Lena trained hard. Surely it is difficult for such a thin long-legged girl to have a big amplitude in leaps, but she worked on them. Before World Championship she even invented an original leap which now holds her name. At World Championship she did 2 routines : clubs and hoop routine. Spanish spectators definitely remembered expressive Elena Dzouchuk, her "Carmina Burana" for hoop was welcomed by great applause. Gold medal that reached her after the disqualification of the Russians seemed a great prize for her.

2002 brought another World Champion title, this time in group. Only Ukrainian gymnasts Anna Bessonova, Tamara Yerofeeva, Natalia Godunko and Elena Dzoubchuk hold the titles of both individual and group World Champions. It proves the diversity of Elena's abilities. The "Swan Lake" ribbon routine was performed no less expressive than the hoop under "Carmina Burana". After 2002 Elena competed only in group event. Surely such a strong individual gymnast increased the medal chances of Ukrainian group at future competitions. Unfortunately, after a huge success in 2002 in New Orleans,  Elena couldn't enter the group podium, but nonetheless at last at World Championship 2003 in Budapest an Olympic license for a group routine was won by Ukrainians. Both in 1995 and in 1999 Ukrainian group was a step apart of this license, and at last, it was won for Athens Olympics. Elena's contribution to it was big. Despite hard training and exhausting self-work Ukrainian group couldn't avoid mistakes in Athens, but we sincerely hope that the mistakes the members of Ukrainian group (and Elena among them) made on Olympics will be the last ones! Now Elena retired from gymnastics, she has her new projects, new goals in her life, which we hope she will reach as she managed to reach her goals in gymnastics.
